Required Gear
(Students Bring)

We recommend bringing the gear you intend to use in the field or at the range, along with a notebook for logging data and observations.

Standard Equipment:
• Primary rifle suited for your training goals (precision, hunting, or general range use)
• Personal bipod, tripod, or shooting sticks
• Shooting mat, rear bag, and support equipment
• Ballistic app or physical dope cards you currently rely on

New to these shooting techniques or building your kit? We offer loaner bipods, tripods, mats, and bags on-site to assist those still refining their equipment list. Loaner gear is intended as a temporary solution to help you get started. Please ensure you bring at least 100 rounds of rifle-specific ammunition. Consult the Ammunition Guidelines below for full requirements.

AMMUNITION GUIDELINES

What is 'Appropriate' Ammunition?

Appropriate ammunition means rounds that are reliable, consistent, and match your rifle and goals.

For most shooters, this means:
• Quality factory-loaded ammunition or well-          proven handloads.
• Bullet weight and type suited to your rifle’s twist rate and intended use (training, hunting, or competition).
• Ammunition that functions safely and reliably in your rifle (no pressure signs, no feeding issues).
• Inconsistent ammunition can cause frustration with how your firearm shoots and can hide your true potential as a shooter.

“Round accountability is our primary focus. We believe every shot must have a deliberate purpose and a documented point of impact. To support this, we specify a 100-round requirement to ensure that each shot maintains this focus while also guaranteeing you have sufficient ammunition for every drill in the course curriculum. Even if the total round count is not fired, any unused rounds can be used for further practice, hunting, or long-range shooting, with the added benefit of already having ballistic data for that ammunition.”

CLOTHING & SAFETY

Training days run rain, shine, or snow unless conditions are unsafe. Please plan your clothing accordingly.

Clothing & Personal Gear
• Ballistic‑rated eye protection (wraparound preferred)
• Electronic or quality foam hearing protection
• Weather‑appropriate clothing you don’t mind getting dusty or wet
• Sturdy footwear suitable for outdoor range conditions
• Hat, sunscreen, and seasonal layers (rain gear, cold‑weather gear, gloves as needed)

Range Safety & Conduct
• All firearms must be transported and handled safely at all times
• Actions open and chambers clear until instructed otherwise by the instructor (chamber flags are provided, but not required at all times).
• Follow all range commands immediately and without argument
• Anyone can call a ceasefire if they see an unsafe condition

If you have questions about whether a piece of gear or clothing is appropriate, contact us before your course and we’ll help you decide.
